Larissa Buchholz

Larissa Buchholz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies and holds a courtesy appointment in the Department of Sociology, Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. Her research engages with the dynamics of cultural production and markets in an increasingly globally interdependent and interconnected world. For her first book project, her interest in global cultural issues narrowed to the contemporary visual arts. In it, she examines the emergence of a global art field and the different ways that artists become valued worldwide. Before joining the School of Communication, Buchholz was a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology at Columbia University.
