What led you to enroll in the MSLCE program at Northwestern University?

I had reached a point in both my professional and creative journeys where I realized I wanted to grow alongside other creative professionals and leaders. I was looking for a community that would challenge my thinking, expose me to new perspectives, and allow me to learn from people with experiences and career paths I aspire to.

Favorite song/movie/podcast/show/festival/exhibition?

Favorite TV show: Insecure for the storytelling and the lack of fear to tell stories about real life, and how life can get messy

Favorite Movie: Call Me By Your Name; also for the storytelling but as well as the cinematography, which adds a lot to the emotion of the storytelling.

What aspect of the MSLCE program are you most excited to experience? (i.e. specific class, site visit, IDEA fund, internship, etc.)

I am most excited for the opportunity to learn alongside a diverse community of creative professionals.

If you could have lunch with one person living or dead, who would it be and why?

Billie Holiday, she is someone I take a lot of inspiration from musically for both her skill and what her music stood for at the time. I would love the opportunity to hear her perspective on the world she experienced and how she navigated it. And given the social and cultural climate of today, I think her insights on resilience and creativity, and the power of music as form of connection or rebellion, would make for an unforgettable conversation.

If you had to describe yourself in three words they would be…

Introspective, Passionate, Open-minded

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

In George R.R. Martin’s Westeros

Which leader or influential figure inspires you the most and why?

Nina Simone is an artists and civil rights activist who I have longed been inspired by. Her talent for balancing her raw emoitons, musical gifts alongside the at times blunt commentary of time, has alwasy drawn me to her work. I am especially inspired by artists who are able to balance their craft with a meaningful message and use their platform to create cultural impact.
