
Ágnes Horvát is an associate professor at Northwestern University’s School of Communication and holds a courtesy appointment at the McCormick School of Engineering. She directs the Lab on Innovation, Networks, and Knowledge. Her current research spans the areas of collective intelligence, AI, network science, and creativity. Horvát’s recent work focuses on the use of AI in music creation and scientific writing, biases in online attention to science, and opportunities for AI-facilitated group decision-making. Professor Horvát has been awarded an NSF CAREER, CRII, and collaborative awards as principal investigator. Before joining the School of Communication she was a post-doctoral researcher at the Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems (NICO). She earned a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Physics from Heidelberg University, Germany in 2013 and also holds a B.Sc. in Physics and Computer Science from the Babeș-Bolyai University, Romania and a B.A. in Photography, Film, and Media from the Sapientia University, Romania.
