Area(s) of Interest: Music, Arts/music festivals, PR/Marketing

Experience: My most significant extracurricular experience is being a part of Mayfest Productions, the student organization that produces Dillo Day, the nation’s largest student-run music festival. I was a part of Mayfest for all three of my Northwestern undergraduate years, and I am currently serving as Co-Chair for this upcoming year’s festival. Mayfest has been my greatest source of community on campus, and it was also the experience through which I discovered my passion for working in the music industry. This past summer I also had the opportunity to serve as a Label Marketing Intern for Roc Nation and as a Live Experiences Intern for 237 Global. In both of these roles, I gained firsthand experience in the music industry, and I was able to apply the skills I had taken from Mayfest to a professional experience.

Ideal Job in 10 Years: My ideal role in about 10 years is something related to live music, whether it’s in concert/festival promotions or marketing, or working as an agent in the music touring division of a major talent agency.

What led you to enroll in the MSLCE program at Northwestern? MSLCE’s versatile curriculum is what led me to enroll in the program. I felt that MSLCE would perfectly connect my academic and professional interests by furthering my career in the music industry while simultaneously exposing me to a well-rounded curriculum focused on all areas of communication and entertainment. Beyond that, I loved my undergraduate years at Northwestern, and I wanted to continue being a part of the Wildcat community.

What are you most looking forward to about the MSLCE program? I am most excited to experience the internship portion of the MSLCE program. I think that the professional experience will give me the chance to apply everything that I have learned throughout the program in a practical setting, and I am looking forward to hopefully interning somewhere new in the music industry.

What is your favorite concert venue? My favorite concert venue is Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. The venue is small enough that every show feels intimate, but it’s large enough that bigger names will still play there. I like that the venue is mostly GA because it really allows the crowd to connect with each other. The plaza-like architecture is gorgeous, and the ceiling is painted to look like a night sky.

Where are you from? Round Rock, Texas, USA (right outside of Austin, Texas)
